Product Description
Top quality shin instep pads made for serious martial artists. These are not made of flat pieces of foam cut to shape, they are actually molded high-density foam shaped to fit around your shin and the top foot. They close on the shin with two heavy-duty velcro straps and a fixed heavy elastic wrap under the arch of the foot.
The shin straps are wide for a comfortable, snug fit. This keeps them in place so they don't slide around on your leg.
The outside of these pads are made of high quality artificial leather (similar to that used on the sides of "leather" car seats). The inside surface is lined with 100% nylon.
While not especially heavy (about 7 oz or 8 oz each), they are intended for intermediate or advanced martial artists. Cheaper pads are available and would be fine for the beginner, but these are "top tier" pads for your shins and feet. They are intended for long-term, heavy duty usage.
For sizing, we recommend you use your (men's) t-shirt size as a guide. That generally works pretty well unless you're at one end of the bell curve or the other (on the thin or heavy side). Since they are elastic straps, they do accommodate a range of sizes/diameters. If you think you're "between sizes", go with the larger size - we don't want you to cut the blood off to your feet or anything.

Great low tier pads November 11, 2008 These are excellent for what they are. However people should be aware that they are sectioned, so the part that receives the impact will transfer most of it to your shin. Great for conditioning, not so great when really good striker are givin it to you full force. If you're looking for entry level shinguards then absolutely get these. But if you're planning on higher end training, get higher end shinguards.
Excellent shin protection September 8, 2008 These guards fit perfectly with two velcro adjustable straps in the calf area, one fixed elastic strap in the Achilles' heel area and two fixed elastic straps in the arch and the ball areas of the foot. They don't move when you are using them, provide excellent protection and are very comfortable.
Tough Stuff August 27, 2008 These Piranha Pads are incredible. The fit snuggly onto you shins and have great protective abilities. My old pair always left my shins with bruises, but these, which ive used only a week are different. They give me great flexibility and protection.
Best Shins I've Ever Used August 4, 2008 These are a great pair of shin guards. They not only stay in place, but the instep area extends much further down over your foot than most shin guards, giving you almost as much coverage as a sparring boot (just your toes stick out). The instep area is made of flexible panels, so it's never annoying and always conforms to whatever movements you're doing. Unless you specifically need a grappling shin guard, I wouldn't use anything else.
